From concept to delivery: why we run our own sites
Some studios hand over a set of drawings and disappear. We would not know how to work that way: the same team that draws the project is the one that runs it on site, through to handover.
The reason is simple. Between the drawing and the finished building there are hundreds of decisions nobody can anticipate on paper: a wall where it should not be, a material that goes out of production, a real measurement that does not match the survey. If the person resolving those decisions is not the one who conceived the project, each of them becomes a small compromise.
Working with full scope — design, coordination and construction management — also changes the conversation with the client. There is no need to arbitrate between what the architect said and what the builder understood, because a single party answers for both.
It is neither the easiest nor the fastest route. It is the one that makes the finished building look like the one that was promised.
